  • Israel's political and military leaders were this afternoon in the House of Commons accused of being war criminals.

    The accusation was made by Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell directly to Prime Minister David Cameron who gave a statement to the Commons on both the current conflict in Gaza by Israel against Palestinians, and also about the missile attack which brought down a passenger plane over Ukraine which it is thought had Russian involvement.

    The comment was made in the House of Commons by Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell who has long been critical of Israel and its occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem which he visited three years ago.

  • Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell has urged the Government to cut the rate of Value Added Tax on tourism from 20 per cent to five per cent in order to boost the tourism industry.

    Speaking in the House of Commons during Culture and Media Questions, Liberal Democrat Sir Bob said that tourism was a major economic generator in Colchester.

    Last Saturday I referred to my visit to Baltic countries Estonia and Latvia with four other members of the Defence Select Committee. I now write more about this, and the significance to the UK of ensuring the continuing independence of these two countries and neighbouring Lithuania.
