Following a question from Bob during this week's House of Commons Questions to Communities and Local Government, Local Government Minister is to meet with Colchester MP Bob Russell to discuss potential unitary status for Colchester.
Having unitary status would mean that Colchester would secede from Essex County Council removing a tier of local government. A Colchester local authority would then be in charge of local highways and education, rather than them being run from Chelmsford as is happening now.
