Essex County Council reviewing free bus passes

July 7, 2010 6:07 PM

Bob Russell at Colchester Bus StationFree bus travel for over-60's (which was bought back by Liberal Democrats in Colchester last year) is now being reviewed by Essex County Council, who have taken over responsibility for funding the project from the Lib Dem led Borough Council.

The County Council are running a consultation until the end of September on how much users value their free bus pass.

Rather than sending out the consultation to all current bus pass holders, the consultation is only available through phoning 08457 430 430, visiting your local library, or by filling in the survey online here: www.essex.gov.uk/buspass/

Bob Russell is concerned that many bus pass users will not be aware that this consultation is taking place and urges his constituents to respond to Essex County Council.

If you are a resident of the Colchester constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
