Although Parliament is currently in Recess because of Whitsun and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, for Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell it is anything but a holiday as some national media have reported that MPs are enjoying.
In fact, in the 17 days when the House of Commons will not be sitting Sir Bob does not have a single day off from his duties!
In the period since MPs left Westminster until they return on Monday 11th June, he will have held eight Advice Bureaux for residents with around 100 appointments involving a wide range of personal matters for him to pursue on their behalf. He has already held two, another three will be held this week and a further three next week.
Sir Bob said: "I also have a total of 39 separate events listed in my diary, mostly in Colchester but with three in London including one at 4am for an early morning start of a Help for heroes 1,000 mile cycle challenge."
He added: "There is not a single day when I shall not be engaged in activities directly involving me in my role as a Member of Parliament."
Throughout his 15 years as MP, Sir Bob has registered the best voting attendance record at the House of Commons of any MP in the country. He engages in more House of Commons questions and debates than most MPs.
