Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell has given a powerful speech in the House of Commons in support of Palestinians, strongly criticising the state of Israel for what he described as their policies of apartheid and ethnic cleansing in the Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Sir Bob pointed out that Israel is acting in defiance of international law and United Nations resolutions.
He went on to criticise Christian Church Leaders around the world, including the Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury, for abandoning the Holy Land.
Liberal Democrat Sir Bob has long supported the cause of Palestinians and last year visited both the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. He has frequently raised issues in the Commons, including directly to Prime Minister David Cameron and Foreign Secretary William Hague.
