MP’s ringing welcome for London 2012 Olympics

July 28, 2012 11:51 AM

Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell took part in the national bell-ringing this morning to celebrate the start of the London 2012 Olympics.

He is pictured outside his offices at Magdalen Hall, Wimpole Road, Colchester, with family friends Dennis and Margaret Marchant.

For three minutes - from 8.12am to 8.15am - they rang hand-bells kindly provided by Christ Church URC which are used at the Church's annual camp.

Passing motorists and pedestrians smiled in appreciation.

Sir Bob is wearing a London-themed waistcoat which was made by Mrs Marchant to commemorate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics. It is one of eight she has made for Sir Bob.
