MP Bob's busy Conference12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 19th Sep 2007 Colchester MP Bob Russell was the guest speaker at a meeting at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference organised by The Royal British Legion. He told delegates in Brighton that the Government was not doing enough for Britain's Armed Forces and their families. Mr Russell is a Parliamentary Advisor for The Legion and is a member of his Party's Defence Team. In the House of Commons he has highlighted the poor condition of Army family housing in Colchester as well as the over-stretch of Britain's Armed Forces notably in Afghanistan and Iraq. Over the six days of the Conference, which ends on Thursday, his early morning to late evening schedule has included the following meetings and briefings - in the order they were held starting on Sunday: The Royal British Legion, ASDA supermarkets, Environment Agency, International Fund for Animal Welfare, BBC Trust, Arts Council England, Children's Rights Alliance, Re-think (drugs charity), Girlguiding UK, British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK, Stroke Association, East of England Development Agency, Big Lottery Fund, Parkinson's Disease Society, Alcohol Concern, The Co-operative Group, Association of British Credit Unions, Sport England, UK Sport Trust, YWCA, RNID (deaf), RNIB (blind), Ordinance Survey, Electoral Commission, and Crossrail.
