MP makes a date with Castle Park

A photograph taken by Colchester MP Bob Russell of the town's nationally acclaimed Castle Park has been chosen for the 2010 official calendar published by the House of Commons "House Magazine".

Mr Russell's photograph - illustrating June - is of the sunken garden bordered by the earthworks to the north of the Castle. It shows a magnificent floral display.

Last year the Castle Park was named as the Best Municipal Park in Britain.

Mr Russell said: "I am probably better known as a wordsmith than a photographer, but I have become keen on photography and I have had several photographs selected for House of Commons exhibitions. It is nice that one showing the array of colourful blooms for which the Castle Park is famous has been chosen for the House of Commons calendar."
