Welcome to Colchester Liberal Youth.

The Liberal Democrats have had a significant presence at Essex University for a number of years, and there are a lot of young Lib Dems in Colchester. The Liberal Democrats were the only main party to fully oppose tuition and top-up fees, and were the driving force behind keeping University tuition free in Scotland.

The Lib Dems at Essex Uni are a really active political society, with regular meets including 'pizza and politics' meetings to discuss topical issues, 60's fancy dress parties, trips to London, and well as helping out the Liberal Democrats locally with campaigning.

Many former Lib Dem activists at the University have gone on to greater things in the party, such as local Councillors Mark Cory and Gary Scott, and former Westminster and European Parliamentary candidate Jonathan Bramall.

Membership of the society is just £2 for SU members, and can be done on the SU website.

We also have a lot of younger members in the local party, including some of our Councillors! We regularly meet up in town to catch up, so if you'd like to come along, please email youth@bobrussell.org.uk

The student Lib Dem group at Essex University hold regular social events, including 'Yellow Submarine' in Mondo's club (pictured left), and 'Pizza and politics' night where topical issues are discussed. Some of our younger supporters and Councillors meet regularly in Colchester town centre around once a month. If you'd like to join us, please get in touch.
